SUNNYVALE (11 Oct 03) -- Otto Lee, candidate for Sunnyvale City Council Seat 5, has earned the
endorsements of business, labor, and environmentalist groups. These endorsements include the
Sierra Club -- Loma Prieta Chapter, the South Bay AFL-CIO Labor Council, and SUNPAC, the political
action committee of the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Lee has served as a Sunnyvale Planning Commissioner since 1998. He is the founder and managing
partner of the Intellectual Property Law Group, located in San Jose. Earlier this year, Mr. Lee
served as a lieutenant commander in the United States Naval Reserve in support of Operation Iraqi
Freedom.
As his campaign enters its final month, Mr. Lee has earned many key endorsements, including the
recent endorsement by SUNPAC. Board member Pat Castillo, former mayor of Sunnyvale, explained why
Mr. Lee earned this endorsement. "Otto has the credentials and qualifications to serve on the
Sunnyvale City Council," she said. "The city of Sunnyvale will be well-served by having Otto as a
councilmember. I look forward to working with him."
Mr. Lee has earned endorsements from a wide-range of other individuals and groups. He is endorsed
by six Sunnyvale City Councilmembers, including Councilmember Manuel Valerio (the incumbent for
Seat 5), Mayor Julia Miller, and Councilmembers Fred Fowler, Pat Vorreiter, and John Howe. Four
State Assemblymembers, including Joe Simitian, Rebecca Cohn, Manny Diaz and Sally Lieber, have
also endorsed his candidacy. In addition, California State Controller Steve Westly and Congressman
Mike Honda have endorsed him. Also, Mr. Lee is endorsed by the Tri-County Apartment Association,
the Silicon Valley Realtors Association, and the Sunnyvale Employees Association.
